It was in Ireland in the year 2020 that we – Barbara Brosch and Catharina Eijs- met at the celebration of Imbolc.  Now we are happy to return to share our discovery that Brigida can be found in countless places in continental Europe as well.  In Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands churches, chapels, schools, health institutions, etc bear her name, sometimes for centuries long.  Relics and customs indicate a living veneration in the past, as do statues, painting, with Brigida almost always in the company of a cow.

In our countries she is known primarily for her protective force of cattle and farmers.In this lecture with PowerPoint Presentation we will introduce you to Brigida in our homelands. But that is not our only purpose. As a prophetess of the 21st century, Brigida might help us in this time of large-scale livestock farming to develop ways for healthier and more balanced interaction with animals. Ready-made solutions are not easy to find. That ́s why we will take time for exchange of ideas.
