Brigid’s Eve Ritual at St. Brigid’s Well

A pilgrimage of quiet reflection, song and prayer on the eve of springtime facilitated by Solas Bhride Team.

Assemble:  Japanese Gardens’ car part at 7.20 p.m.

Brigid’s feastday marks the beginning of Spring according to the Celtic Calendar; a time of hope, a time of opportunity, new beginnings, new life. Brigid’s eve is a very special night.  Tradition holds that on this night Brigid visits the land passing through each town, village, home and outhouse, spreading her blessings and healings over people, animals and the earth.

During our pilgrimage we will be blessed by water from St. Brigid’s well, mindfully weave a St. Brigid’s cross, walk in pilgrimage by candlelight and reflect on some of the legends of St. Brigid and how they can speak to us today.

We advise anyone coming on the pilgrimage to dress for the cold and we and to bring suitable footwear as it may be wet underfoot.  You might also like to bring a lantern or light.
Pilgrimage concludes at approximately 9.00 p.m.
