In the Christian tradition we celebrate The Annunciation of the Light of the World, the Annunciation of the Birth of Jesus on March 25th.
Reflection:
This is a celebration of Mary’s special day, her calling to be the Mother of Jesus, the Light of the World. Mary was bathed in Divine light and was invited to step into her own light and say ‘yes’. Mary’s ‘yes’ then was no easier than it is for all of us to follow our calling today.
Today March 25th 2020, the Feast of the Annunciation, has deep significance for the whole world. In response to Covid-19 all human citizens, in every country on planet Earth, are being asked as individuals to step into their own light and say ‘yes’ to responsible living and behaviour so that all can be protected, so that all peoples can continue to follow their calling and live life to the full.
Annunciation is for everyone. We are all invited to live in the Light, to be bearers of the Light, to share the light, to rejoice in the light.
And like Mary, Mother of Jesus, say:
“My soul gives glory to my God
My spirit rejoices in God my saviour”
My heart pours out its praises”
We invite you now to listen to Ave Maria, sung by Ashana, as you reflect on your invitation to step into your light and life and say ‘yes’ to caring for self, family, friends, community, and all citizens of planet Earth.
