Equinoxes are the only two times yearly that the Sun rises due east and sets due west for all of us on Earth!
It is a time of balance. It is almost like the pendulum of the seasons rests for a brief moment of harmony.  How often have we heard the expression “I need to do a spring clean.”  The implication is that life has become cluttered and there is a need to bring it back into balance.   This is a time to reflect if there is balance in my life between activity and rest, work and play, busyness and relationships, joy and sorrow.

This is also the time of year when the Christian community celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation – when the angel Gabriel extends the invitation to Mary to be the mother of Jesus. What is the invitation being extended to each of us at this moment in our lives?
