Join us in a global Pause for Peace. Time: 12.00 local time - St. Brigid’s day, February 1st.
The Pause for Peace movement invites people from around the world to stop and pause for 1 minute’s silence/reflection at 12 o’clock local time on St. Brigid’s day, February 1st.
Inspired by Brigid, a woman of peace, we invite you and people around the world to join with us for 1 minute’s silence/reflection and build a spirit of global solidarity for peace.
Solas Bhríde Centre and Into Kildare – Kildare Tourism Board, jointly launched a global Pause for Peace movement in Solas Bhríde Centre on January 12th 2023. Since its launch the movement has gone global with groups in many countries observing the pause for peace.
The Pause for Peace reflects a spiritual underpinning to the national holiday in honour of St. Brigid and is consonant with the value of peace which St. Brigid stood for in her time.
“By pausing for peace, we send out a message that we actively oppose warfare and the proliferation of arms in our world.” Sr. Rita Minehan, Solas Bhríde
“This new Pause for Peace movement is a unique event which breaks new ground in recognising the cultural and historical importance of St. Brigid beyond boundaries and aims to form a spirit of solidarity and peace in societies all over the globe” President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
Prayer for Peace
Brigid, you were a woman of peace.
You brought harmony
where there was conflict.
You brought light
into the darkness.
You brought hope to the downcast.
May the mantle of your peace
cover those who are
troubled and anxious,
and may peace be firmly
rooted in our hearts
and in our world.
